We’re back for 2024/2025!

Join our recreational, non-competitive club for swimmers, ages 8 to 17 years. Our goal is to improve each swimmer’s stroke ability, endurance, and confidence through coaching and training. Although the club is recreational, the focus is on competitive swimming skills (i.e. speed, efficiency, and endurance) making our club attractive for youth looking to “springboard” into a more competitive club in the future. Below are the age categories to register. However, registrants may be moved based on skill through the year and after the first couple weeks. Once everyone shows up the first couple weeks, we will move people around accordingly based on skill.

Ages 8 to 10: must be able to swim 25m unassisted, on front or back, and be comfortable in deep water
Ages 9 to 14: must be able to swim at least 25m of front crawl, 25m back crawl, has attempted dolphin kick and whip kick, comfortable in deep water
Ages 11 to 17: must be able to swim 50m continuously without stopping. Able to swim freestyle, backstroke, basic breaststroke or kick, dolphin kick

CLUB PHILOSOPHY

The Club is a fun, recreational, non-competitive club for swimmers 8-17 years old. The goal of the Club is to improve each swimmer’s stroke ability, endurance and confidence through coaching and training.

The priority of the Club is the development of a swimmer’s self-confidence, self-awareness, and skill level. Time trials and optional swim meets are used to assess swimmer’s improvement. Children will learn in a positive atmosphere.

All new swimmers are required to try-out for the coaches. Try-out dates for the year are held in September. Coaches will inform families on the same day, if the child’s swimming abilities are a fit for our club. At a minimum, the swimmers need to be able to swim 25 meters without touching the bottom or the edge.

Important Registration Notes:

If you have multiple children you wish to register, you will have to do each one separately.
You can leave payment until after ALL swimmers are registered.
The MLCA will retain a $50 non-refundable registration fee upon participant’s cancellation.
The first two weeks will be evaluations to ensure students are in the proper class and capable of attending the season.
