West Elbow Communities Local Area Planning

The final draft West Elbow Communities Local Area Plan (the Plan) sets the vision for the area over the next 30 years. It provides direction on future development and investment that residents, landowners, builders/developers, City Planners and Council can commonly refer to as new development and investment ideas are proposed.

The West Elbow Communities and The City have continuously engaged in discussions that have shaped the creation of your local area plan. The Plan provides answers to where revitalization and development could happen in the future, creating more certainty and predictability.

A few of the key ideas in the Plan include:

• Supporting and respecting historic places and spaces
• Increasing housing choices for people
• Enhancing parks, open spaces and natural areas
• Improving mobility in and around the area
• Providing more daily needs and amenities within walking distance
