Hello Community Members:
As with all businesses and organizations, there are many documents that the MLCA uses during the course of its regular activities. Some of these documents, like our committee plans, are regularly revised and updated. Other documents, like our License of Occupation with the City, rarely get changed. One document that falls in between those two parameters is the Association’s bylaws.
The MLCA regularly needs to review the Association’s bylaws and update them if required. This will involve the MLCA Board of Directors and all current members of the Community Association. We are doing that process now.
The MLCA’s bylaws were first drafted in 2014 and they are slated to be reviewed every five years. In 2019, the bylaws were reviewed by the MLCA Board of the time, and, after that review, it was determined that no official changes were required. Some minor changes were noted at the time, and those have been included in this current revision.
The current MLCA Executive updated the bylaws followed by the full MLCA Board reviewing the document for the last several months. They have arrived at a collection of amendments, additions, and deletions.
The proposed changes to the bylaws are posted below, and we are looking for feedback from the community. That feedback will be reviewed and discussed by the Board and may result in further changes. If you have any such feedback, you are invited to send it to email@example.com. If you would rather speak to someone, send your phone number to this same email address, and you will be called. Also, if you come across any changes between the two versions that weren’t noted in the applicable Article change documents, please let us know.
On March 4th, 2024, the Community Association will host a Special Meeting at the MLCA hall to vote in the new bylaws. An official notice of this meeting will be sent out via email to all current members of the MLCA. All members are welcome to attend, discuss, and vote. Once approved, the new bylaws will be sent for official registration. Voting eligibility will be based on the parameters laid out in the current bylaws.
The meeting will be at the MLCA Hall, 3130 16th Street SW at 7:30 pm.
The notification email has been sent out on February 12, 2024 (at least 21 days prior to the meeting) to satisfy the current bylaw requirements for such a notice.

“MLCA Bylaws 2014” – These are our current bylaws.
“MLCA Bylaws 2024” – The currently proposed new bylaws.
“Summary of Changes” – A very high-level summary of the changes made and a listing of some minor changes that may not be specifically noted in the Article change documents.
“Black Line Version of the Bylaws” – This is a black line document from the 2014 bylaws to the most recent revision.
To facilitate an easier review, we have broken up the document and provided detailed descriptions as to what has changed for each section. There are separate pages for each section of the bylaws, and links to those pages are below (all links will open in a new tab):
A lot of work went into reviewing and updating the bylaws, and we are looking forward to your feedback and to getting these new bylaws made official!
Thank you for your time,
Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA)
